ahahah ! okay i am super duper high because of today's practice ! I think everyone was great during the last performance, chuiguan,laxuan,tanbo,diying,daji EVERYBODY WAS GREAT (:

Though our standard isnt there yet, its great to see such a huge improvement ! if we keep on improving, we WILL WILL WILL WILL WILL WILL get GWH !

JIAYOUS EVERYBODY !
Must practice hard and practice smart during xiaozu,dazu and your sectional extra practices !
ohh ! ahaha the only thing i felt was lacking in today's performance was all of your movements ! where did they go ! everyone must start moving to the music okays ! SHAKE IT.
ahahha.

& SUONA, WE HAVE FAITH IN YOU !

Hey CO !


I hope that all of you will read this blog post thoroughly and give some thought about it yea ?


This post is going to be rather long, so be patient & read on yea !


okay. here it goes.
I think for the sec 4s, many of us do realise the extent to which our standard has dropped since a few years back. for the sec 2s and 3s, yes, our standard has dropped quite significantly. For those of us sec 4s who have went through SYF and understood how much effort we put in to achieve that GOLD award, we feel rather dismayed about our current CO standard now.

i am not saying that SNCO isnt good. SNCO is good. its perfect. its fantabulous. remember what mrs. goh said ? when st.nicks is at its best, no one comes close. i believe in that statement, & i trust that all of you believe that statement too.


you see, WE CAN DO IT. we know that we can do it. but it all boils down to a matter of whether we are willing to do it.
the number of people bringing their instruments home to practice is declining. I feel rather saddened by this fact. as a member of the comm, sometimes we comm. feel very desperate while trying to improve the standards of the comm., yet no one is responding to our calls.

i would like to praise the liu qin people. They bring their instruments back home without fail at the end of each practice. I believe that they do practice their instrument. But what impresses me is the effort that they take to bring home their instrument after each practice.

If all of us could put in the effort to bring home our instruments to practice each week, i believe that the chances of getting a GOLD WITH HONOURS would be sky- high, let alone a gold. remember that old phrase practice makes perfect ?

as comm, we really hope that you can put in your best to play during each practice. Many a time we have reminded all of you to keep quiet, sit half a chair, to sit up straight, to play with emotions, to soak yourself in the music etc. its because we truely care for the standard for SNCO that we are reminding all of you to do these little actions. becos if we do not practice this actions in our usual practices, when SYF comes, many of us would not put the actions into practice.

sometimes when a few of us comm members gather together to discuss about the standard of CO, we are on the bringe of breaking down into tears. we really want to improve our standard. i am sure many of you have experienced the feeling of falling down from a peak point, & that feeling is terrible. but WE CAN NEVER GIVE UP. cos like i mentioned earlier, WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO IT.

Currently, what I feel thats lacking in CO is the passion and determination. All instruments have little parts here and there which are slightly difficult to master. Yet sometimes when we fail to master these parts, we get rather frustrated and we decided to skip it. this cannot be the case ! we cannot give in to challenges. they were meant to be there for us to conquer them. and by conquering them, CO reaches a new standard.

Another point to note which the comm. has been rehashing several times is the point on swaying with the music and to feel with the music. what set us apart from other schools during the past syf was how we swayed and felt for the music. from above, you could see SNCO swaying to the tempo of the music. its like, the entire piece of music coming to life ! when you sway with the music, you feel absorbed in it, and that feeling is great.

do not be afraid of swaying. do not tell yourself that you cant sway. its a fear that you have to overcome. follow your seniors and sway. you have seniors, you have us. we will always be there for you, no matter what happens.

if any of you face difficulties in a certain part, look for your seniors. they will help you. we want to help you. let us help you to sway, to feel for the music, to be more accurate in your playing, to keep the tempo going. we want to help you, so let us help you.

after such a long post, i hope that all of you will seriously take what i have said into consideration and reflect about this issue. if there's anything you feel that the comm. can improve on, feel free to approach any of us, we will be receptive towards your comments.
